For years, Richard Emerson has had big plans to brew beers under the name 'Deafinition'. Unfortunately, these plans went off the rails. You see, Richard is easily side-tracked. And the culprit is, almost always, trains. So, while he's off doing the locomotion, Emerson's are brewing Deafinition beers for him. Chasing Trains is one of Richard's favourite styles. A barley wine that'll warm the palate, with fruity hoppiness, citrus and toffee flavours, and a wine-like mouthfeel. Yes, it's a real trainspotter's beer.

The adventure doesn't have to end when you get home. Day Tripper is a low carb beer that's as intrepid as you are. Brewed with a combination of hop pellets and hop oil, for better mouthfeel, balance, fruitiness, and complexity. It's more than just a post-activity refresher, it's a flavour journey all of its own - from tangelo base camp, all the way to a crisp, stone fruit finish line. Enjoy the trip.

Richard Emerson loves it when his ears burn. It either means he's being talked about, or he's drinking one of his absolute favourites, a chilli chocolate stout. This luxurious, decadent brew is made with OCHO cocoa nibs, red chillies, and Belgian yeast, giving it a deliciously complex rich plum, raisin, and chocolate flavour, a smooth velvety texture, and of course a warming spicy finish. Don't worry, while Deaf by Chocolate may make your ears tingle a little, it won't actually make you deaf.

Drifter is the beer with no real plans. A cold IPA that doesn't know where it's going until it gets there. The initial hoppy hit of citrus, tropical, and stone fruit flavours soon drifts into a clean, crisp, and cruisy finish. Best enjoyed super-chilled, at your own pace, in your happy place. You don't need to know what time it is to know it's beer o'clock.

Dunedin is a Penguin Town. But it may not stay that way, unless we all step up to help. Our iconic hoiho are critically endangered, with an estimated 143 nests remaining on the mainland and Rakiura, a number that drops dramatically every year. This is Emerson's fourth amber liquid in aid of yellow-eyed penguins, but it won't be their last. This NZ Pale Ale is easy-drinking, with vibrant notes of stone fruit, and a biscuity malt backbone. Keep saying yep to YEPs.

A hallucinatory, mind-bending, consciousness-expanding, dream-like experience is not what you'll find in this can. It's just a beer, man. But, this cloudy IPA does have a gnarly hit of Riwaka, Simcoe, and Mosaic hops, with a tropical citrus flavour, and a totally piney finish. At least it's a trip for your taste-buds. Far out.

Emerson's are thrilled to have made the Otago Nuggets and Southern Hoiho team this season. While they do the hooping, Emerson's do the hopping. Hoops is the perfect balance of malt and hop, with aromas and flavours of berry, tropical fruit and pine. You might just be looking at this year's MVB.

Bears generally fall into two categories: terrifying or loveable. You've done well to get your hands on one that won't chase you through the woods. Although not grizzly, Juicy Bear does pack a bit of a punch. Brewed in the West Coast IPA style, it's been dry hopped with Kohatu, Nectaron and Mosaic hops, then spiked with both fresh pineapple juice and Abstrax Skyfarm Pineapple. It's worth coming out of hibernation for.

Porter is the oldest commercially brewed style and London Porter was Emerson's first beer. Dark, dry and mellow with some hoppy characteristics, pours a deep brown colour with reddish tints.

Hold on to an Emerson's tasting where ever you go. The beach, the backyard, the back of beyond, or even just your place. This mini bar contains a carefully curated selection of favourites, so you can take your taste-buds on a journey, even while you're on a journey. Just make sure you keep it somewhere cold - this isn't actually a real fridge.

Emerson's hereby inform you that you are now on the official Naughty List. The mere act of looking at this can is more than enough - whether you drink it or not. Yes, all that good behaviour (ahem) is out the window. So, you may as well indulge in the big bold, intensely tropical flavours of this Double IPA, while inhaling the gooseberry and grape aromas.
